What is HyperPath

HyperPath is a software-defined WAN (SD-WAN) platform. It connects your devices into private networks and combines all of their internet links into one faster, more reliable connection.

You install the HyperPath client on each device (a server, a router, a gateway, a laptop running Linux) and manage everything from the HyperPath Admin Console.

What you can do with HyperPath

  • Build private networks. Devices that join the same HyperNet can reach each other on private IP addresses, wherever they are and whatever NAT or firewall they sit behind. Traffic between devices is carried in encrypted peer-to-peer tunnels.
  • Bond internet links. A device with several uplinks (for example fibre, 4G/5G and Starlink) can use them all at once. HyperPath can add their capacity together (aggregation), send copies of important traffic over several links (replication), or keep traffic on one preferred link with automatic failover.
  • Send internet traffic through a gateway. A device can send its internet traffic over its bonded links to another HyperPath node, or to a HyperPath-hosted shared gateway, which then forwards it to the internet.
  • Reach networks behind a node. A node can advertise the subnets behind it, so other devices reach printers, cameras or servers on that LAN without installing anything on them.
  • Control traffic with policies. Multi-path policies decide how each kind of traffic uses the links. Security policies decide which traffic is allowed.
  • Monitor everything in one place. The Admin Console shows every node, connection, link and traffic flow with live and historical charts.

How the pieces fit together

ComponentWhat it does
HyperPath clientRuns on each Linux device. It creates the tunnel interface, connects to other nodes, schedules traffic over the available links, and applies policies.
ControllerHolds your configuration, introduces nodes to each other, and collects their status. Only control and monitoring messages go to the controller. Your traffic does not.
Admin ConsoleThe web interface for configuring and monitoring HyperPath.
RelayCarries traffic between two nodes when they can't connect directly, for example when both are behind strict NAT.
Shared gatewaysHyperPath-hosted gateways you can send internet traffic through without running your own.

HyperPath can be used as a hosted service at admin.hyperpath.ie, or self-hosted on your own infrastructure.

Supported platforms

The HyperPath client runs on Linux:

  • Debian, Ubuntu and Raspberry Pi OS (x86-64, ARM 64-bit and ARM 32-bit).
  • Arch Linux (x86-64 and ARM 64-bit).
  • OpenWrt and Teltonika RutOS routers (ARM and MIPS targets).
